Screenprints
This series of screenprints have been inspired by the detail of a
piece of wild moorland in the Galloway Hills in Southwest Scotland.
Using close-up images of bits of foliage from a peat bank and small
’burn’, Sybil has created a range of work printed onto a variety of
backgrounds, ranging from watercolour paper to hessian, linen, silk
and cotton.
In
some of the pieces she has used embroidery to link the images.
Each piece is unique and a one off using various different
combinations of colour and materials.
Giclee
Prints
Giclee printing is a high quality inkjet printing process that has
excellent archival qualities, guaranteeing longevity.
The
giclee prints in this section are again inspired by a piece of wild moorland
in the Galloway Hills in Southwest Scotland, called High Eldrig and a
standing stone found in a field of a farm near Newton Stewart, again
in Southwest Scotland.
The
final prints are combinations of a number of separate images of these
places incorporating textures and graphics inspired by the
contradictions of the area.
Bog
Foliage uses images of dereliction and abandonment as a result of the
demise of human habitation in the area combined with images of the
rampant, healthy foliage that continues to thrive, providing home to
many other creatures when left to its own devices, reflecting the
ongoing battle between man and the environment.
Clauchrum Stone, on the other hand, shows the ability of the present
and the past to co-exist in what appears to be a peaceful and non
threatening manner – or is it? |
